Qeshm Environmental Conservation Institute
Qeshm Environmental Conservation Institute (QECI) is a non-profit and non-governmental marine conservancy based in Qeshm Island at the Persian Gulf with the mission of protecting the Persian Gulf’s biodiversity and its habitats through conducting research, developing science-based solutions, education and raising awareness, as well as taking direct actions.
The institute first started its activities with cooperation of some marine biology fresh graduates in the form of a scientific association called Qeshm Environmental Conservation Association and its purpose was initially in line with identifying and introducing biodiversity of water around Qeshm islands (Qeshm, Larak, Hengam and Hormoz). It has later registered as a NGO and widened its scope of activity to the entire Persian Gulf and surrounded water in Oman Sea.
